The Romans started off very small. As they began to experience other foreign countries, they began to realize that they could make their nation into something much greater. It’s so happened that Greece was one of Rome's neighbor's. Greece had already had a strong developed nation. Rome struggled to keep their survival. The Greeks superiority affected the Romans, inspiring them to be superior and strong as well. They then captured their cities and Rome became superior to the Greeks. They tutored their children. Greeks were more cultured and the Romans adopted their ways. As they got new and greater ideas from the Greeks there was a drastic change in their empire into one unit. The Roman character began to dissolve, banking, capitalism and self-indulgence. There were two main classes, the wealthy and the very poor or average person. They became a whole new country. They had everything together and made traveling to and from Rome easier, and therefore trade was much easier, and therefore Rome became wealthier. Good for military, originally built for army-for soldiers and for supplies, unity; such a huge and difficult geographical placing: culture to go through an entire empire. Which combined everything into one effective method for the Romans.

If an Athenian came into the present day demorcracy what would they think?
I think that they would diagree completely with our democracy. They would probably disagree totally because we have a demorcracy of no choice. Even thought we live in a free county we cannt make choices that would make a change in our government easily. For the Greeks it was more of a wide range of coices and they believed in equaltiy. For example they had a bin and they put notes on a rock and at the end when it was full the king took them and make choices based on that. So if the Athenian came they owuld probably wonder why we dont have an open opinion governemnt base system.

Mayan values in modern society.
For Mayan women, some people used this topic for their project. As groups were presenting I learned stuff that I didnt know before. For example back in the day when they had Mayan tribes women played a big role in society. They cooked the food, took care of their children, and made clothing for their families. Mayan women were always have their children young which was like a custom that they followed. In modern days there is a big Mayan society in San Francisco. Many women still follow their ancestors and have plenty of kids at a very young age. Weaving was a very important aspect in ancient Mayan times. It is still today a majority of what they follow. In many cases the women still follow what their ancestors did and weave for a living. In parts of the United States many women keep up to that. The majority of women in Guatamala still follow the exactly what they have been known to do and what their mothers and grandmothers have done in the past to keep their culture alive.

Blog Entry #4
Mohism and Legalism are two opposite ends of the road when it comes to how to govern. Legalist officials believes that to maintain order that you must have a strong ruler with harsh punishments. They think that wars are a way of strengthening power to the ruler which is not true at all. They also think that the right way to govern is to only have laws and you have to be educated and that a perfect society would be if everyone was in order. Mohism on the other hand has totally opposite views. They believe that a good way to govern is if the ruler is wise. They don't make people join their religion or put any pressure onto them. They think that if people are truly good at heart that they will find their way into Mohism. They wanted to have a country of universal love and cooperation amongst people. They thought that the government and the society only needed math and science and no music or arts. Even though I do not agree with the laws of Legalism, they seem liked they maintained order more than the Mohists because the Mohists were free willed and very down to earth which would make the people of the society not want to follow their laws because they don't believe in harsh punishments and the people would take of advantage of that. Legalists on the other hand go by the book. They are strict and straight forward and have harsh punishments. So this is a better way in maintaining order because the citizens are more likely to be scared and intimidated by the ruler and they wont want to get in any trouble so they follow the laws and regulations that the ruler instructs.

Blog Entry #3 What is the most effective way for a ruler to maintain order?
My math teacher Dr. Schneider has a great method of teaching. So in this case she would be the ruler and she would have to maintain order for us in order for the students to learn. Her method sticks in my mind the best. Instead of having the assignments due the next time we see her after class they are due in two times because we would go over them the next time we met and then we would have time to fill in our corrections. This process allows us as students not to forget what we needed to do for the assignment and some have very little time doing because students have other priorities that are expected of us. So we don't give her lame excuses that we didn't understand it because we had time to go over it in class, which puts power and more knowledge into her to really keep us in line. She still doesn't accept late work but there is lenience time if it is if we want to get it done in the most successful way that we can. Which makes us all happy and Dr. Schneider happy because she knows that her students understand the material but don't get lazy and slack off because they have extra time because she still has boundaries that cant be crossed and she knows when they are. This relates for a king to keep order because he is still putting punishments on the people but he lets them have more freedom and relax time so that they might be more motivated to get it done, but the king still needs his needs to be met or else he starts to get mad.

Diamonds Theory
I disagree and I agree with Jared Diamonds theory, here's why. I disagree because just because people lived in different areas and had different crops does not mean that if they had those crops they would be higher in technology. Also I agree because the areas that did have an abundance of wheat and barley, back then it was considered technology because from agriculture they emerged into different techniques that spread throughout the world. For example trading. Trading became apart of the world when people started having crops and goods to trade with it really began to set off and it became very popular.
